  • LHD Gulf States (C32) model
  • imported to the UK in 2017
  • 62,000 kms (38,000 miles) from new

This left hand-drive 997 GT3 RS was built in 2008 and delivered to its sole owner in Qatar. Bought locally by a well-known expat historic racing driver, the car returned to the UK in 2017.

Finished in the most desirable, optional Viper Green, this 2008 GT3 RS has covered 62k kms. The interior features the usual purposeful specification that is a GT3 RS signature, with the rear compartment fitted with a half cage painted in matching body colour.

Fitted with optional Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes, Porsche Communication Management and sensibly retaining its air-conditioning and audio equipment, this modern classic is a sought-after, useable road and track car.

Last year the car underwent a full mechanical overhaul at specialists Tech 9 Motorsport and has just had a detailed pre-sale inspection at Autofarm in Oxfordshire, which it passed with flying colours. It is now ready for a summer lapping the roads and tracks of the UK and Europe.

In by far the most desirable colour, bearing less than 40,000 miles and in very good condition, this GT3 RS is ready for a summer of fast driving on road and track.

Our thoughts

More than any other manufacturer, Porsche allows its customers to drive its racing innovation on the road and that’s most apparent in these RS models.

The first generation 997 GT3 RS is a hugely appealing, analogue driver’s car. In its 3.6, 3.8 and 4.0 litre forms, it was not just the last of the manual RS models, but also the last RS model to feature the infamous Mezger flat-six engine derived from Porsche’s 911 GT1 Le Mans winning car.

Subsequent motorsport department 911 iterations, such as the 991 models, although remarkably capable as every day cars, have a bulk and lack of immediacy that means that arguably the 997 GT3 is the pick of the bunch.
