Porsche 911 chassis #305515 is well known on the European historic motorsport scene, having competed at the most prestigious events for much of the last 15 years. It was once owned by 1967 European Touring Car champion, Karl von Wendt, and is painted in his racing livery of blue and yellow bonnet stripes. It has run at the Goodwood Revival Meeting several times and is in the correct specification to compete in the Peter Auto 2 Litre Cup for the 2022 season. It complies with the regulations for FIA Period F (Pre-66) and has a current HTP to that effect.
The car was delivered in May 1967 to Wiesbaden, Germany. Details on the factory Kardex point to it being a demonstrator at the Rossel dealership before being bought by a US serviceman. Soon after this it came into the ownership of Karl von Wendt, who sold the car to fellow German Porsche racer Willi Khausen in 1983. The car was bought by a German enthusiast in 2002 and restored to period racing specification in the von Wendt livery. It was subsequently brought to the UK in 2005 by well known UK historic racer Peter Rutt, who campaigned the car at the Spa 6 Hours and Goodwood Revival on several occasions. Rutt sold the car to its current owner in 2013.
While in its current ownership the car has been prepared to the highest standards for top level historic racing. Over the last six years, the car has been run by leading preparers Maxted-Page with significant expenditure on engine, gearbox and chassis. The car has competed with success in several rounds of the 2 Litre Cup including an outright podium finish. The last work was completed in 2021 with a thorough refresh for the new season.
