details

The US-market Porsche 911 L (for ‘Luxe’) was a one year only model, often recognised by its side reflectors, and benefited from S brakes and suspension, despite a standard engine tune.

This car has the rare ‘Elephant Hide’ vinyl interior completely intact, having had very few owners during its life, including one long-term lady owner in the UK.  With original paint in the main, it’s overall presentation is as a remarkably time warp example.

Sold by Sports Purpose in 2018 to a longstanding friend of the business, the car has benefitted from considerable recent expenditure, not least a comprehensive engine rebuild by respected specialist Steve McHale.

The burgundy colour makes a refreshing change from some of the more popular hues and the car looks ready to load up and go.
Our thoughts

Porsche has always been expert at segregating ostensibly similar cars, with thoughtful details, evolution and options.  Much as we love the S models, this car offers a slightly more relaxed and less overtly sporty drive.

The rebuilt engine is certainly strong and the car shares that attribute of good early cars of belying its age with cross-country pace, motorway comfort and ease of use that very, very few of its contemporaries could offer as standard.

The burgundy colour makes a refreshing change from some of the more popular hues and the car looks ready to load up and go.  At the listed price, it represents a good value opportunity for a late ‘60s Porsche experience.
