details

This 964 Carrera RS was built as a German market (C00) left-hand drive car in September 1991, and was delivered by Mahag in Munich. It had three German owners who serviced the car annually at official Porsche centres in Nurnberg and Aachen before being imported to the UK at the end of 1997 with a total of 46,700 kms (29,180 miles) covered. In the UK it has had a total of four owners who continued to maintain the car diligently, initially with the London City official Porsche dealer Lancaster Bow and subsequently with well-respected Porsche specialists Ninemeister and Parr. The speedometer was changed for an MPH version when it was first serviced in the UK and this is documented on file.

The current owner bought the car in 2010 when it had covered a total of 57,200 miles and has lavished plenty of care and attention on it. On purchase he commissioned a full external repaint by a Porsche accredited bodyshop and with just over 3,000 miles covered in the ten years since this paintwork remains in near perfect condition. The car retains all its original panels. In 2012 he also decided to have the engine fully rebuilt by Parr as an entirely precautionary measure and the car has seen only 1,000 miles use since. It has now covered a total of 60,600 miles and has just had a pre-sale major service at Autofarm including the replacement of tyres and brake pads. The history file is extensive and includes all invoices while the car has been in the UK.

On a more aesthetic level the 964 body shape has become more revered as the years have gone by.
Our thoughts

Having sold several 964 RS in the last year, our enthusiasm for the model is well-known.  While benefitting from modern electronics and safety features such as ABS, they still embody the purity and spirit of the early Sports Purpose cars.  Criticised when new for their uncompromising set up, these cars now feel vibrant and alive, giving the driver a level of feedback and direct involvement that is perhaps missing from more recent iterations of the RS catalogue.

On a more aesthetic level the 964 body shape has become more revered as the years have gone by. It harks back to the cars of the early 70s and has a simplicity lacking in the later iterations of the 911. The Midnight Blue Metallic colour of this car was not a popular choice in the late 90s when bright solid colours were all the rage. However it works beautifully on the 964 RS and gives the car a subtle yet striking appearance.

The car has benefited from a thoughtful fast road set-up by the expert Parr team and drives superbly. The fresh engine pulls extremely convincingly and is a joy to use. An early morning test run in the car recently was one of our best drives so far this year.

Coming from a careful owner with super attention to detail, this car wants for nothing as is ready to be used as intended.
