details

This car is an Italian market (C07) left-hand drive car, first delivered on 21 January 1992 via Porsche Turin.

The car has spent almost all its life in the Turin and Milan areas of Italy, passing through the hands of three Italian owners.  It was serviced in the Porsche main dealer network for most of this time.

Subsequently, it was owned by a well-known auctioneer, who had the car maintained at a major Porsche specialist in Germany. He sold it to the current owner in 2016 when it was registered in the UK.

The car had more than £8,000 of maintenance work completed at Prill Porsche Classics in 2018.  This work included new front brake discs and pads, new Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres all round, the replacement of suspension bump stops, and a major service with replacement of spark plugs and all filters.  The car has completed less than 3,000 miles since.

A good 964 has that particularly Porsche combination of tactility and solidity that is somehow lacking from the later cars.
Our thoughts

Well received when it was new, the 964 model spent many years as a rather under-appreciated step in the 911’s evolution, after it was superceded by the 993.  In recent times the Porsche community has re-evaluated it and come to prize the classic looks, bulletproof build quality and traditional driving experience.

A good 964 has that particularly Porsche combination of tactility and solidity that is somehow lacking from the later cars.  It still has the same basic architecture as the very earliest 911’s, however it benefits from modern electronics, more advanced coilsprung suspension and ABS brakes, making it practical as an everyday car.

This particular 964 is exactly how we would have specified it from new.  The two wheel drive cars are much nicer to drive than the heavier four wheel drive versions.  The black colour scheme is discrete but shows off the classic 911 shape perfectly.  Add in the rare combination of no sunroof, factory sports suspension and limited slip diff and the car has a real “sports purpose” intent.

This 911 was ordered by someone who knew what they were doing.
